Our extension: let there be light

from three beds to four

by Lauren Floodgate

COST SO FAR: WEEK TWELVE - £90,650

Cups of builders' tea: 285
Spoons of sugar: 370

We’re changing a three-bedroom house into a four-bedroom with an extra bathroom and a big square landing.
Take a quick look around our house - and see our plans. Here's how we got on this week...

This week and last, the builders have spent all their time up on the roof. They’ve been at it for 12 days. We’re trying to reclaim and re-use as many tiles as possible but just yesterday I watched as 50 of my ultra-rare tiles came crashing to the floor. I have no idea what happens now as the tiles are no longer made and we didn’t have any spares, but I'm sure we'll find something to replace them.

With little going on inside I’ve been out shopping for fixtures and fittings and I’ve got my eye on this amazing digital shower from the Aqualisa Rise range. You can lay in bed and switch it on so that the shower is the correct temperature when you get in; or more importantly you can lay in bed and switch it off when your husband won’t get out! I have to have one.
