Wow isnt Freecycle fantastic? It was recommended to us by a friend and it is the most brilliant way to get rid of stuff you dont want any more. For anyone who hasnt heard of it, Freecycle was set up so to avoid sending rubbish to landfill. You simply join your local group and post an offered ad, or in some cases, a wanted ad. As they say one man's rubbish is another man's treasure. I got rid of 20 part-used cans of emulsion and over 100 old cassettes this week. Next week Im hoping to shift lots of old kids toys.
Im calling in brochures on a daily basis but is anyone else out there finding it hard to get paper brochures? I understand that paper is expensive but I need to flick through a brochure not download a PDF that simply isnt satisfying. I dont have the time to visit loads of showrooms so I need the brochures posted to me I got lots of brochures at the Ideal Home Show, mind you - see my highlights here.
Anyone keeping tabs on the tally of my blog will see it's jumped a bit this week. The structural engineer was a bit more expensive than we thought, but I guess you can't cut corners. It's important to know for sure that the roof will stay up!
This weeks good news is that our neighbour is allowing us to tap into his sewer pipe and manhole. I never thought Id get this excited about poop disposal but this solution is going to save us several thousand pounds which I have already mentally spent. I have found these amazing floor tiles from Original Style which I think Id love in my new kitchen. They are drop-dead gorgeous. They come in the most yummy range of muted colours, and they are made in the UK to boot. They aren't cheap at £274.95 (inc VAT) per Sq M but if I use them as a feature panel combined with with some cheaper oak flooring I think they'll look amazing. You can check out the whole range here www.originalstyle.com
