My version of the simplest-ever skirt project

I couldn't resist making it...

by Adrienne Wyper

As I said back in one of my blogs in May, I really wanted to make this as soon as I saw the 'simplest-ever skirt' pattern.

As you can see when you click on the link to the free pattern above, it's a bias-cut drawstring waist skirt.

As you can't see from the photo, left, I had a little mishap. I pinned the double layer of ribbon around the waist of the skirt, then I machined it... and found that it wasn't quite long enough, although it had been when pinned on. So my 'learning from experience' tip for this pattern is not to cut the end of the ribbon until you've sewn it on. Once you pull the ribbon drawstring though, the gap is closed between the two ends of the waistband piece of ribbon, so I will be wearing it (just need to sew in the loose threads).

If you can't stretch to sewing this skirt, how about... ...customising your clothes with sew-on decorative detailing...or...

...making a cushion cover from ribbons?
