Behind the scenes of a British catwalk

We take a look at the beauty trends to emerge from fashion week.

by Alice Jones

What comes to mind when you think of the term ‘sweat head’? Personally it would be un-styled, greasy hair desperately in need of a wash – sounds lovely, right? Well think again! It’s a new style created by hair extraordinaire Adam Reed (he started working on runway shows when he was just 10) especially for the House of Holland A/W ’13 show, and despite the name it’s far more appealing than it sounds.

The idea behind the look is to have the perfect hair the morning after a night out – sounds ideal to me! Think volumised, picture perfect locks and you’ll have a good idea of the style. I popped backstage at London Fashion Week and witnessed the man himself styling the trend and was pleasantly surprised to learn how easy it was to do yourself – I’m definitely an amateur when it comes down to hair styling and it looks like unglamourised hair is making a massive come back.

Fashion week is renowned for its quirky beauty – particularly when it comes to shows like Vivienne Westwood with her doll faced make-up and extravagant dresses, but this is definitely all part of the buzz. It’s not just about the new clothes – it’s really interesting to see the beauty trends designers create to go with their collections, and to what extreme they’re taking it.

The more outlandish the better in my eyes because it’s soon adapted into a more toned down version for the high street, right? We’ve all seen catwalk looks and thought 'that’s awful', I’m never doing that!’, but chances are a few months down the line we’ll all be sporting a toned-down version of the trend, whether it’s power brows or statement lipstick.
