Knitted veg of the week: mushroom

A wild creation, free knitting patterns plus some fabulous recipes

by Carol Muskoron

Okay, I know, a mushroom is not a true vegetable but it sits nicely in my knitted veg collection and so there it will stay. Knitting it was a great experience - I did it in one piece, starting at the top and working down. I am particularly loving the base of the stalk - on the pattern I was told to pull the remaining six stitches through and tie off but I made a flat base instead, which I think looks spookily authentic! Peas next, I think. Or chilli peppers...
