We’re changing a three-bedroom house into a four-bedroom with an extra bathroom and a big square landing.
Take a quick look around our house - and see our plans. Here's how we got on this week...

This week we are starting to see some real changes to our home and we finally feel like we can see the wood for the trees. Our complicated mansard roof meant the plasterers had a real challenge on their hands creating our new landing ceiling. Instead of hiding the roof construction we decided to make the most of the interesting shapes. We're delighted with the new window which can be thrown open like a pair of French doors and we now have a view of the garden and a landing that is flooded with natural light.

Work is well under way in both bathrooms and our beautiful new Showerlux cubicles take centre stage. In both we've tiled using a brick bonded pattern. In the kids bathroom we've kept it simple with lots of white tiles and splashes of turquoise; in our en suite we've used handmade Simplicity tiles from Marlborough in a beautiful eau de nil shade. Check them out here.

The tiler chose not to use spacers and this has given the grouting a less uniform feel that is more sympathetic to the beautiful handmade tiles.

I've been scouring Ebay for bargains and have just bought an old Ikea sideboard that I'm going to transform into a vanity unit and two square freestanding sinks to sit on top. I've also managed to sell the old Velux windows that the builders removed from the old extension for £200, £150 of which I immediately blew on a secondhand sofa from the YMCA charity shop. As they say - easy come easy go.....
