Comments
Heaviest and loudest kettle tested. Very quick boiling times and the fastest at boiling on minimum capacity.
Removable drip tray. 1.5 litre tank capacity. Dispenses hot water.
Comments
Good points: Takes 40 seconds to fill a mug, the water coming out of the spout is 98oC which is perfect for black tea. Even extra tall mugs fit under the spout.
Drawbacks: It doesn't filter the water and only dispenses 250ml of water at a time, too much for a small teacup and not enough for an extra large mug. Water tank is not removable, so the whole machine has to be carried to the tap. It is not possible to stop the water mid pour. Casing gets hot.
Tank capacity 1.7 litres. Removable tank. Removable drip tray. Adjustable height nozzle. Dispenses filtered hot water or filtered room temperature water.
Comments
Good points: Takes an average of 29 seconds to fill a mug with filtered hot water and the water comes out at around 92oC, ideal for coffee and fruit or herbal teas. Allows you to stop the water mid-pour or programme it to dispense a set amount of your choice, which is convenient if your mugs are smaller or larger than average.
Drawbacks: You can't fit an extra tall mug under the nozzle.

Comments
Good points: quick to boil one litre. It can be boiled holding just 200ml water, enough for one cup of tea or coffee. Diagonal measuring lines help you judge the water accurately when the kettle is tipped up. Clear body enables you to view contents but this may require cleaning in time. The on/off control lights up when switched on. Gauge measures both litres and cups. The filter is easy to slide in and out. Responsive flip open lid.

Comments
Good points: A solid, stable design with a coloured finish which doesn't show finger-marks like some of the polished metal sided kettles. The filter is easy to remove and replace and the lid locks securely into place.
Drawbacks: Heavy when empty. The on indicator glows around the on control but could be brighter.
Empty weight: 1.3kg. Noise when full: 72.0dB. Time to boil one litre: 2mins 12s
Jug style kettle. 3000W. 500ml -1.7 litre capacity. Double sided water gauge. Removable filter. On indicator. Concealed element. Flip open lid. 360° swivel base. Rubber feet. Cord storage. Keep warm. Polished stainless steel.
Comments
Good points: Bright lights show through the water gauge when boiling. Big control to open lid is easy to use. Wide water gauge is easy to see.
Drawbacks: The filter is hard to grip as the opening is small for large hands. The lid doesn't always shut the first time it is pressed. The polished stainless steel finish shows water and finger-marks. Metal sides reach 94° when boiling full capacity. Noisy when boiling the maximum quantity.
Empty weight: 1.1kg. Noise when full: 67.1dB. Time to boil one litre: 2min 17s
Jug style kettle. 2400W. 500ml -1.5 litre capacity. Double sided water gauge. Removable filter. Temperature indicator lights. Concealed element. Flip open lid. 360° swivel base. Rubber feet. Cord storage. Keep warm. Variable temperature. Alarm.
Comments
Good points: Can be set to boil at four different temperatures; 40°,60°,80° and 100°. Clear individual indicator lights show when the kettle has reached each temperature. An alarm sounds to tell you when the kettle has boiled. Excess cord feeds neatly into the base of the kettle.
Drawbacks: Noisy when boiling the minimum quantity. Slow to boil one litre and its maximum amount.
Empty weight: 1.0kg. Noise when full: 64.3dB. Time to boil one litre: 2min 59s
Good points: The body of the kettle changes colour when kept in standby mode and turns from blue to red when heating up to boil. Quick to boil one litre.
Drawbacks: The filter is very stiff to remove as there is not much room in the mouth of the kettle to fit fingers inside. Noisy when boiled containing the minimum and maximum amounts.
Empty weight: 1.2kg. Noise when full: 76.8dB. Time to boil one litre: 1min 59s
Jug style kettle. 3000W. 500ml -1.6 litre capacity. Double sided gauge. Removable filter. On indicator. Concealed element. Lift off lid. 360° swivel base. Rubber feet. Cord storage. Brushed stainless steel
Comments
Good points: Secure screw on lid and easy to remove filter.
Drawbacks: A latch under the handle should be pressed to open the cover over the pouring spout before pouring, but we found water escapes without doing this but it does help to block the steam when boiling. The indicator on the switch is not very bright. It is hard to measure water accurately against gauge no markings to line the water up with. Very noisy when on minimum. The metal casing reaches 94° when boiled at full capacity.
Empty weight: 1.1kg. Noise when full: 73.8dB. Time to boil one litre: 2min 2s
Jug style kettle: 3000W. 200ml - 1.6litre capacity. Double sided guage. Removable filter. On indicator. Concealed element. Flip open lid. 360° swivel base. Rubber feet. Cord storage. White.
Comments
Good points: This differs from others in that it has two water reservoirs - one to hold water and the other to boil it so you can feed from as little as 200ml (one cup) through to boil or as much as a litre or both reservoirs can be boiled together to make 1.6 litres. It is ideal if you only want to boil small amounts at a time without refilling the kettle to boil a small amount each time.
Drawbacks: We found that the last cupful in the water reservoir wouldn't feed into the boiling chamber to make it up to 1 litre; the reservoir had to be filled again to push it through. The instructions are misleading when stating that both chambers can be boiled together - they can only do this safely if the reservoir is not topped up to full once the boiling chamber is full. We found the water started to pour out of the base once boiled. We have addressed this omission in the instructions with EcoKettle and wait to hear an outcome.
Jug style kettle. 3000W. 1.0-1.7 litre capacity. Double sided water gauge. Removable filter. On indicator. Concealed element. Flip open lid. 360° swivel base. Rubber feet. Cord storage. Keep warm. White.
Comments
Good points: The boiling status is indicated by the colour of kettle body; blue when plugged in, purple when heating and red when keeping warm plus an on indicator on the on/off control. The lightest kettle tested.
Drawbacks: The keep warm control has to be switched off after use and we think it could easily be forgotten and left on. One litre minimum capacity is quite large. Empty weight: 859g. Noise when full: 70.4dB
Jug style kettle. 3000W. 500ml -1.7 litre capacity. Double sided water gauge. Removable filter. On indicator. Concealed element. Flip open lid. 360° swivel base. Rubber feet. Cord storage. Choice of 80° heat or 100° boil. Brushed stainless steel
Comments
Good points: Press the on / off control down for 100° and up for 80°C. The kettle body lights up as well as the on indicator. Drawbacks: The filter is stiff to remove and the lid is stiff to press open - the latch is a bit small to make it easy. The filter falls out when the kettle is tipped up and it doesn't click into place properly. The handle is angular to hold and the lid won't stay open when filling.
Empty weight: 1.2kg. Noise when full: 71.9dB. Time to boil one litre: 2min 5s
Jug style kettle. 3000W. 700ml - 1.6 litre capacity. Single sided gauge. Removable filter. On indicator. Concealed element. Flip open lid. 360° swivel base. Rubber feet. Cord storage. Keep warm. Polished stainless steel
Comments
Good points: Attractive stainless steel finish.
Drawbacks: The on indicator is not very bright. Single sided water gauge is positioned behind the handle. It has a rather narrow opening for filling through the lid. It is heavy when empty compared to some models we tested. The metal sides reached 91°C when boiled at full capacity. Polished finish shows finger-marks easily. The filter is very stiff to remove

Comments
Good points: The only traditional style kettle we tested this time round. This was the third lightest model we tested, unusual for a metal sided kettle.
Drawbacks: It was the noisiest when boiled at maximum capacity. The single sided gauge is positioned under the handle. The metal sides reached 90°C when boiled at full capacity. Gauge shows cups only. The metal finish shows finger-marks and water marks.

Comments
Good points: Water gauge is wide and easy to see. The lid swings open and the wide neck makes it easy to fill through the top rather than the spout.
Drawbacks: The green indicator light is not very bright and filter is very stiff to remove and in a tricky place. Noisy when boiled on full. Leaks from under the lid if poured vigorously. Slow to fill through spout. Brushed metal shows finger-marks. Lightweight.
Empty weight: 979.5g. Noise when full: 72.1dB. Time to boil 1 litre: 2min 19s
1.5 litre removable water tank. Stainless steel and black. Manual or automatic water flow. 2800W. Claris filter cartridge.
Comments
This gives you filtered hot water on demand, no preheating or boiling needed. It also provides an energy saving of up to 65% compared to standard kettle. It can fill a mug in about 23 seconds compared to 3 minutes for a standard kettle. A good option for people who live on their own and for those with wrist and arm problems. It can be quite noisy and does splash a little when filling a cup. The water comes out at about 90 degrees which is 10 degrees lower than a kettle so not idea for tea connoisseurs who like their tea with freshly boiled water.
3000W. 0.7-1.7 litre capacity; single sided water gauge; filter; on indicator; rubber feet; thermal cut off; cord storage.Weight: 909g. Noise: 70.7dB.
Comments
Pointed spout makes it easy to pour accurately but its small size makes filling from the tap a slow process. The on indicator is not very bright. The spout filter is hard to remove. Quick to boil 1 litre.
