Good points: Clearly laid out instructions with a good number of recipe ideas at the back. Good sturdy construction. The bowl rotates around the paddle. The angled paddle scrapes the sides of the bowl clean easily. Very easy to assemble. The paddle coped with chocolate chips easily. Large feed hole on top makes it easy to add ingredients. Connection between motor and main unit is a two pin plug hole on the top of the machine - this could easily get dirty or wet. Light and airy ice cream but paddle struggles as it thickens and does not stop automatically. Very noisy. Small feed hole makes it hard to pour in ingredients. Large on/off control.
Clear and well laid out instructions with a good selection of recipes. Double paddle churns ingredients effectively. A single timer control operates the machine. Produces a good volume or creamy, light vanilla but is slightly slower to thicken than other machines. Coped well with chocolate chips. Noisy.
Self freezing model. 1.2 litre fixed plus 1.2 litre removable stainless steel bowl; spatula; timer; two paddle sizes

Instructions could be clearer but include a good selection of recipes (these are in strange measurements). Automatically stops when ice cream gets thick. Very creamy and smooth ice cream. Messy to remove bowl as no handle. Timer settings are not obvious.
Instructions could be more detailed but provide a good choice of recipes. Paddle turns more swiftly than the other machines which produced a light, whipped ice cream result. Easily coped with chocolate chips and quick to thicken. Choice of three functions: freeze only, paddle only and freeze and paddle. Doesn't automatically switch off when thick.
Clear and well laid out instructions with a good selection of recipes. Bowl turns around paddle like a churn. Wide ingredient feeder makes it easy to add ingredients but paddle stopped when choc chips added. Noisy.

Shiny surface of bowl makes it easy to scrape out the finished ice cream. Tricky to get the paddle going (on our model) once the lid is locked into place. Small feed hole makes it messy to pour in ingredients. Large press control.
720ml stainless steel, removable bowl;battery operated. No freezing time as runs independently in the freezer

Battery operated so you can leave it running in the freezer. It takes about three hours to make basic ice cream. Ice cream results were slightly curdled. Tiny spindle which holds paddle to motor could easily get lost. Easy to scrape ice cream from shiny bowl. Choc chips got broken up during churning and sorbet was slightly icy in places.
Cooling disc rather than entire bowl - slimmer design makes it easy to store in the freezer. Instructions could be more clearly laid out. Paddle struggled slightly with chocolate chips. Quiet operation. Ingredient feeder is small but not angled so is easier to use.
Clear instructions and a good choice of recipes. Churns well leaving a creamy ice cream which is light in texture. Small feed hole makes it quite hard to pour ingredients into bowl. Struggled slightly with choc chips. Side handles on bowl make it easy to lift.
