  Good points: Takes 40 seconds to fill a mug, the water coming out of the spout is 98^oC which is perfect for black tea. Even extra tall mugs fit under the spout.

  Drawbacks: It doesn't filter the water and only dispenses 250ml of water at a time, too much for a small teacup and not enough for an extra large mug. Water tank is not removable, so the whole machine has to be carried to the tap. It is not possible to stop the water mid pour. Casing gets hot.

  Comments

  Good points: Takes an average of 29 seconds to fill a mug with filtered hot water and the water comes out at around 92^oC, ideal for coffee and fruit or herbal teas. Allows you to stop the water mid-pour or programme it to dispense a set amount of your choice, which is convenient if your mugs are smaller or larger than average.

  Drawbacks: You can't fit an extra tall mug under the nozzle.

  Good points: very quiet during all tests. The water gauge and on/off switch illuminate brightly when the kettle is boiling. The silver finish is attractive and does not show finger-marks. solid on/off control. Responsive flip open lid.

  Drawbacks: Narrow and rather dark water gauge is hard to see and only shows measurements in cups.

  Good points: quick to boil one litre. It can be boiled holding just 200ml water, enough for one cup of tea or coffee. Diagonal measuring lines help you judge the water accurately when the kettle is tipped up. Clear body enables you to view contents but this may require cleaning in time. The on/off control lights up when switched on. Gauge measures both litres and cups. The filter is easy to slide in and out. Responsive flip open lid.
