An impressive, simple way to make great pancakes
I make fantastic pancakes, if I say so myself. The family adore them. We fill them with sweet fillings for desserts and savoury for main courses and we eat them fairly regularly. This wasn't always the case.
I can't flip pancakes. They don't get stuck on the ceiling but they just end up half in the pan and half out, or on the floor. My solution was the Breville Traditional Crêpe Maker
which I got last year. It's a fool-proof hotplate with a raised rim - you pour in your mixture, use the natty twizzle stick, you turn it over with a spatula - and you get a lovely, impressively thin pancake every time.
But am I a phoney? Shouldn't I be able to flip with the best of them. I've just got a new frying pan. It's the Tefal Preference Pro Induction Frypan - apparently it's good for flipping pancakes. Ever a gadget girl, I am hopeful that it will make all the difference to my flipping sills. I will give it a try tonight with my ricotta, spinach and basil pancakes. I'll let you know how I get on. Meanwhile here are our savoury pancake recipes, our sweet pancake recipes and a brilliant basic pancake recipe.
Happy Pancake Day everyone - and happy flipping.
