Win a doughnut cookbook for St George's Day!

We're not sure if doughnuts are English, but we're celebrating St George's Day with some fabulous English recipes and the chance to win a gorgeous doughnut cookbook

by Carol Muskoron

Happy St George's Day everyone! The talk here at allaboutyou on this St George's Day morning, has been all about whether or not doughnuts are English. We know you can get Spanish doughnuts. We know that the Dutch have claims on making the first doughnuts and whisking them off to America to make more there. But there are those who think doughnuts were invented by the English upper classes.

I can't think of doughnuts without thinking of hot doughnuts on English piers and in English Wimpy bars (remember the Brown Derby in the Wimpy Bars? A hot iced doughnut with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and nuts - oh that was good!). Now, of course, we have the indulgent Krispy Kreme doughnuts, and their Choco Mania range is up their with the Brown Derby - oh yes! We adore the Peanut Butter Kreme and had to cut one up and divide it between five of us when there was one here in the office because everyone wanted a taste!

But if you're not sure doughnuts are English and want some truly authentic English recipes, check out our top 10 English recipes for St George's Day. We've also got some gorgeous English asparagus recipes for St George's Day, and some more classic English recipes including blueberry trifle and Lancashire hotpot. Plus we're rounded up some top bloggers' recipes for St George's Day too.

Leave us a St George's Day message on our main St George's Day recipes page here and you'll be entered into the prize draw to win 'Doughnuts - 60 easy delicious recipes' by Rosie Reynolds. Good luck everyone!
