Pancake recipes and a shop-bought wonder
I only eat pancakes two ways - with duck and plum sauce or with lemon and sugar. Having said that I tried moving heaven and earth yesterday morning to get a lemon and failed. I resorted to golden syrup and it was... okay. The duck option is something I would normally only have in a restaurant but I saw CP Authentic Asia Aromatic Crispy Duck with Pancakes in the freezer section at Morrisons and gave it a whirl. Guess what? It is amazing! For £6 you get half a duck, twelve pancakes and a packet of Hoisin Sauce. It takes half an hour to cook from frozen and it comes out crispy and fantastically restaurant-like. I hadn't relied on it for dinner because I thought the kids would complain it didn't taste like proper Chinese. But once I took it out of the oven they came like vultures to the table, fighting for the stuff! I reckon it makes a good main course for two with a veg stir fry and plain rice.
PS I tried the CP Authentic Asia Prawn Wonton Soup with Noodles too, and that would make a good main course for one and again tasted fantastically authentic. If you do only buy one, refuse to share it with anyone!
