My favourite line from the 2013 Race for Life ad
'Cancer, you prat' is my favourite part of Cancer Research's Race for Life ad campaign. It's just such a dismissive term, so everyday and down to earth, not along the lines of cancer is a big, scary monster that you have to do battle with, but a ridiculous non-entity that's beneath your contempt.
And to contribute to the quest to consign cancer to permanent pratdom, I'm running this year's Race for Life. But this time, I'm doing the 10k.
(Sadly, there's no 'cancer, you prat' T-shirt on sale in the Cancer Research online shop, but this 'Cancer, we're coming to get you' design is, as it says, just £4.)
Winter weather and hours of daylight have interfered with my normal running routine which, in a good week, is two 5k runs. So first I need to build back up to doing that comfortably, and then I can extend to doing double that.
I haven't run 10k for 15 years, but I've got until early July to get there!
