Make a beautiful beaded necklace

Beaded necklace

To make

Cut a 170cm length of 10mm-wide grosgrain ribbon and choose a selection of chunky beads in your desired colours. We used three shades of coloured-glass bead to give a colour-block effect, and a 3cm flower pendant. If your pendant doesn’t have a loop attached, add a jump ring (see below). Thread the pendant onto the centre of the ribbon and tie a knot either side to secure it in place. Thread on the rest of the beads, tying knots in between each, until you reach your desired length. Fasten by tying the ends together in a bow.

How to use a jump ring

Depending on the size of the jump ring, either hold it in one hand and use pliers to open it, or use two pairs of pliers. Open it sideways, just far enough to attach your pendant (don’t just pull the ends apart as this will distort the shape and make it difficult to close up afterwards). Attach the pendant then close the ring making sure the ends are tightly closed.
