Sew a simple shopping bag: free sewing pattern

To make

1 Cut two rectangles 44cm x 42cm from cotton furnishing fabric. Pin and stitch pieces right sides together at sides and base, taking 1cm seam allowances. Neaten seam allowances together. Press under 1cm then 4cm around top edge of bag and stitch. Cut a 1.5m length of 4cm-wide cotton webbing in half. Press under 1cm at each end. Pin and stitch straps to top of bag 18cm apart and 7cm below top edge.

2 Fold bottom corners of bag so seams lie on top of one another. Stitch across for 4cm as shown. Trim excess fabric and neaten seam allowances. Turn right side out.
