Make a crochet collar: free sewing pattern

Crochet collar - Make a crochet collar - Craft - allaboutyou.com

You will need

● Measuring tape
● Saucer, to use as template
● Iron-on backing material
● Soluble fabric pen
● Round crochet mat, pressed
● Scissors
● Iron
● Needle and thread
● 25cm ribbon, cut into 2 equal lengths

How to make

1. Measure your neck by resting the tape across your collarbone, to work out a comfortable size, then find a saucer or plate that has a similar circumference.

2. Lay out the iron-on backing fabric, place the saucer on top, face down, and draw a circle slightly outside the edge. Position the crochet mat onto the backing fabric, centering it on the drawn circle, and mark around the edges.

3. Use scissors to trim all around the backing fabric, just inside the line marked for the outer edge, and cut out the central circle. You will be left with the collar shape.

4. Place this piece glossy-side down onto the crochet mat and iron on to attach.

5. Cut out the centre of the crochet mat, then snip the resulting collar at one point in between two of the scallop shapes, to make the opening.

6. Stitch through the collar and the fabric in several places to secure it further.

7. Fix a length of ribbon 2cm inside either side of the opening, horizontally, so it can be tied into a bow.

Tip: For a plainer look, use a hook and eye fastening or attach poppers to either side and onto the dresses or knitwear that you will wear with the collar.
