Make a knitted rose brooch

Knitted rose brooch, a free knitting pattern from allaboutyou.com

You will need

• Pink, red, yellow (or any flower colour you choose) DK yarn
• Green DK yarn
• 2¾ or 3mm knitting needles
• 2¾ or 3mm double-pointed knitting needles

Using DK yarn and size 2¾ or 3mm needles (fine needles with DK yarn give a much tighter knit)

Stem – making a cord

The right side of the stem is the garter stitch.
Push stitches to other end of double needle (yarn is other end of stitches).
Bring yarn in front of stitches so it can be used to K next row.
After a few rows of this a cord will form.
Continue to desired length.
Cast off.

To make up rose

Sew in ends of rose petals with stocking stitch side facing.
Roll up rose from left to right (small side to large side) keeping cast-off edges together.
Roll the last piece towards you to make an outer petal.
Stitch all this in place through layers.

Attach sepals and stem

Wrap around green sepal and stem and stretch slightly to fit.
Stitch at back of rose.
It’s a good idea to catch the sepals all the way around rose so bud can't fall out.
Stitch on safety pin at back.
