  This has the second lowest average water consumption of all the models tested and nice quick programmes to boot. The press controls are very responsive but take care not to knock against them. The clear digital display shows load size, temperature of the wash programme and the programme progress.

  Very long wash programmes and it took over six hours to complete a combined wash and dry cotton programme. It is a high energy user, particularly for the drying progs and uses on average an extra 28 litres of water for the drying cycles. The wash stage indicator is set in 15/30/60 min increments so it is hard to judge what stage the prog has reached. Noisy but efficient spin.

  Slow to dry full cotton and polycotton loads and the combined wash and dry programme for cottons took just over 5 hours to complete. High user of water, particularly for the 30° and 40° cotton programmes. It came third lowest for average energy consumption. Optimistic 8kg maximum load size.

  Long cotton programme and high energy use on drying cycle.  Hard to tell which control is for start and which is to switch the machine on and off. The drying times have to be set manually - no auto option. Door lock takes ages to release. Detergent not as easy to slide in and out as some tested. Clear display screen
