Looking for a new look to take you through the hectic rush up to Christmas and festive season socializing? If you’re not looking for a radical change, just an improvement to what you have, you will be interested in the Gold Standard Blow Dry treatment at the Daniel Galvin salon in Central London.

There are lots of hair straightening treatments on the markets – from those that will leave your hair ramrod straight for up to six months, to the keratin ‘blow dries’ that remove frizz while keeping curls and waves. Both are quite costly, both involve spending several hours in a salon. If time and money don’t allow for this – face it, we’re entering one of the most expensive and busiest times of year – the Golden Blow Dry is a good party solution; a hair treatment that lasts for up to one month and only involves spending just over an hour in salon.

What’s a Gold Standard Blow Dry?

Similar to a keratin treatment, a liquid solution is applied to washed and dried hair, then washed out and re-blow dried. It won’t solve frizzy hair problems but it will leave your locks sleek and glossy for up to a month. So plan to have it done for end of November/early December and it should see you right into the New Year.

Trying out the Gold Standard Blow Dry

I’m amazed how quick this procedure is, I’m in and out in not much more than an hour – hardly any longer than a normal blow-dry and conditioning treatment. My hair feels amazingly soft afterwards – I have very coarse, slightly dry hair – so ‘soft’ is not something I am familiar with when I touch my head! I bounce out of the salon, tossing my sleek and shiny curtain of hair – looking like Charlotte from Sex and the City on the day she worries her hair is ‘too shiny’.

How long does it last?

Leaving a salon looking groomed and gorgeous is no big deal of course – any decent blow dry will control even the most unruly of locks. But I do notice that this blow-dry lasts way beyond the normal length of time – usually after a few days, things are starting to look a bit skew-ways. I get over a week of sleekness out of this one. But the real test of course is going to be the first wash – how is my hair going to look afterwards?

Its first wash was a huge test – in a hotel room with no conditioner and no hair products to apply afterwards. I literally had to wash – and go! Oh, did I mention the temperature was hitting 30 degrees? I was fairly amazed at the results. Had I tried this pre-treatment, I would have frightened small children with the resultant frizz. But this time, while looking a bit ‘full’, my hair still holds a natural curl and isn’t at all frizzy. I’m very impressed.

And a month later?

Subsequent washes – armed with the full complement of conditioner and hair products – give further good results. I’m not totally frizz free but I’m a lot sleeker than normal. My hair looks like it has a natural shine – I know it doesn’t, so this is clearly the treatment at work. And I look groomed and gorgeous – well okay, I look pretty good – for the rest of the month.
