Sew a pretty sleep mask: free sewing pattern
Follow our simple sewing pattern and unwind in style with this handmade sleep mask
You will need:
● Three small pieces of cotton fabric – one patterned, one plain, one black – measuring approx 8in (20cm) x 5in (13cm)
● Piece of cotton wadding 8in (20cm) x 5in (13cm)
● 1/2in (1cm) wide black elastic approx 15in (38cm) long, depending on size of your head
Enlarge the mask template (below) until fold line measures 3in (8cm) across. Cut one mask shape from each piece of fabric and one from the wadding.
With plain fabric right side up, fold elastic across the middle, with about 1in (2.5cm) clearance each side.
Place patterned fabric on top, right side down, matching edges, then place black fabric and wadding on top and pin at sides to keep elastic in place. Machine sew a 1/4in (1/2cm) seam all the way round the edge, leaving a 2in (5cm) gap at top.
Turn right side out by placing your thumbs inbetween the plain and patterned fabric and pulling the elastic through as you do so. Slip stitch the gap at the top.
