Sew a classic apron: free sewing pattern
Keep your clothes clean while you're cooking - make a pretty yet practical apron
From 90cm of 115cm or wider fabric, cut out one apron following the diagram below (measurements are in cm).
Cut two strips 80cm x 6cm for waist ties, one strip 60cm x 6cm for neck strap and one rectangle 30cm x 33cm for pocket.
Turn under and stitch a 2cm hem across top (wider) edge of pocket. Press under 1cm on sides and bottom of pocket. Pin to centre of apron 27cm above lower edge. Stitch in place, stitching in a triangle at top corners for reinforcement.
Press under 1 cm on long edges of strap and ties and also across one end of ties. Press in half lengthwise and stitch. Press under a 1.5cm hem around outer edge of apron. Insert unfinished ends of ties under hems at corners and stitch securely.
