Sew a waterproof washbag: free sewing pattern
Create your own waterproof washbag with our easy-to-follow pattern - makes a great gift, too
For a washbag with a waterproof lining, cut two pieces of fabric and two of waterproof fabric, such as shower curtaining, to the measurements shown. Press 1.5cm onto the wrong side across the top of the fabric pieces and insert a 25cm zip.
With right sides facing, pin and stitch the two pieces together around the outer edges. Fold the bottom corners of the bag so the seams are aligned, and stitch across the ends. Trim the seam allowances.
Cut a strip 15cm x 4cm for the loop. Press 1cm onto the wrong side of the long edges. Press in half and stitch the sides. Fold in half and stitch inside the top of the bag at the open end of the zip. Make the lining as for the bag, omitting the zip. Fold under 1.5cm around the top of the bag and slipstitch to the inside of the zip tape. Thread a ribbon through the zip pull, and tie.
