Sew embroidered stockings - templates and stitch guide
Templates and stitch guide for the embroidered Christmas stockings
Here are the stitch guide and templates for the embroidered Christmas stockings.
Basic stitching techniques
Daisy stitch
Work a group of six to eight detached chain stitches in a circle to form a flower shape.
Whipped backstitch
Work a line of backstitches, slightly longer than usual. Slide a blunt needle under the thread of the first backstitch from top to bottom and pull the thread through. Repeat in each stitch in the row.
Bullion knot
This is similar to a French knot, but creates a longer coil of thread. Come up at A and go down at B, leaving a loose loop of thread - the distance from A to B should be the length of knot required. Come back up at A and wrap the thread around the needle five to eight times. Hold the wrapped thread in place with your free hand and pull the needle all the way through. Insert the needle at B and pull through.
