Do you have enough personal satisfaction? Take the quiz

Consider your level of contentment

Money doesn’t buy happiness. Nor do drop-dead good looks or Mensa brains. Personal satisfaction is what counts – a feeling of contentment when you look at your whole life. If you’re unhappy, it’s up to you to make changes to attain happiness – whether it’s a few tweaks or major life-changing decisions, such as moving house or changing job. You spend hours at work, so it’s important you feel happy and productive there. Does your work suit your skills and personality? Do you feel recognised, respected and well managed? If you treat your job with the right attitude – by giving your best and asserting yourself – you’ll be amazed how much it will improve. If you really feel like a square peg in a round hole, write down all the things you love doing, investigate whether any of them could become part of a career and take steps towards that goal. Bottom line: It really is true that what you give in life will be what you get back. If you want to feel personal satisfaction in your relationships with those closest to you – husband, family, friends – it’s important to treat them well, rather than just feeling everything is a tiresome duty. Encourage people when they’re doing well, and offer a shoulder to cry on when they’re not. If you want a blissful relationship with your partner, you need to have trust, communication and love.
