  Comments

  Good points: High gloss black panel is quite thin with a fairly narrow bezel. Good price for Freeview tuner and four HDMI input for other devices. It upscales standard definition channels to fit the HD screen accurately and looks very sharp with the additional image processing switched on.

  Drawbacks: Black levels could be darker and brightness a little punchier, but at this price better than acceptable.

  Good points: Smart, black appearance. Excellent remote and on screen interface. Connecting other devices and accessing media through the USB port are simplified by the interface. Colours are bold and detail well resolved. S master speakers are moderately powerful.

  Drawbacks: At nearly 10cm it's not a particularly thin panel and the frame is quite wide. Black levels could be darker.

  Good points: Samsung upmarket TV packs the most features into its sleek frame, including internet access, which puts YouTube and other apps on screen. It's also great for playing other digital media like music and photos from a hard drive. The picture is bold and bright and fast moving images appear smooth.

  Drawbacks: Picture quality could be better.

  Good points: Very slim panel with a smart finish and elegant stand. The remote is intuitive and it's a responsive set which means it surfs channels quickly. The high definition LCD screen screen looks sharp and the USB input means you can play MP3s and photos stored on a memory device easily

  Drawbacks: Black levels looks a little grey. The ‘invisible' speakers sound quiet.
