Good points: Sleek box which feels well made and comes with twin tuners that offer useful functionality. Two channels can be recorded simultaneously, for instance, while watching a recording. The picture quality is sharp and accurate.
Drawbacks: Theres a certain amount of noise from the cooling fan and the remote control is very basic. The USB port is for service only and the audio output is stereo, rather than 5.1 surround sound.

Good points: This player is stylishly curved at the edges and feels more substantial than most. As an older machine there are some low prices online. The user interface is particularly easy to understand. The picture quality is also exceptionally crisp and uncoloured for such an affordable machine.
Drawbacks: there are no web apps here, so no YouTube access. It's not as fast as loading and playing a disc either.
