Not so ripe and ready to eat

Have you ever been disappointed by ripe and ready to eat avocados?

by Carol Muskoron

I encourage my kids to eat salad although they don't really like it, but there is one salad my daughter loves: it consists of lettuce, walnuts, pear, port salut cheese and avocado - ripe avocado. I try to have all of these ingredients to hand and last night - bingo! I had it all. And I'd made sure I bought two ripe and ready to eat avocados from Morrison's. You know what I'm going to say, don't you: the avocados weren't ripe. Argh!!!! I paid £2 for them. I intend to find out just how the supermarkets choose their ripe and ready to eat produce. It's quite categorical labelling and it's infuriating that the produce does not live up to the label. In the meantime tell me, have you ever had the same experience?
