Things that made me go 'mmm'
In no order whatsoever...
I hate tomato ketchup and I never eat it, but I was intrigued to see a super-quick recipe in Hugh's book 'River Cottage Veg Every Day'. All you do is gently fry an onion in oil, add curry powder, grated ginger, crushed garlic, five tablespoons of tomato ketchup, a tin of chick-peas and a little water. It was delicious and so fast.

This ticks all the boxes for a delicious salad, and those boxes are: salty, soft, sharp, sweet and crunchy. If you combine a few ingredients that cover all of those, the result is usually well worth the effort. The above was served on a bed of leaves.
I have a cold at the moment and this has long been my cold remedy of choice. It tastes of lemon and, yes, honey - with no bitter aftertaste as you drain the dregs. And of course, it contains paracetamol to reduce a temperature and soothe pain, and phenylephrine to clear your nose. Just don't buy the one with menthol by mistake - it's vile! (Although it certainly does clear your passages.)
I'm eating these to help soothe my throat. These are from Marks & Spencer and they're ginormous - almost too wide to lay on your tongue and allow to melt. Almost too wide, but happily not quite. Chocolate is good for you in so many ways and one is soothing a cough
This is one of my personal comfort foods. It's a ready meal accompaniment, sold in Tesco, and includes peas. Microwaved and doused with soy sauce, it makes a very satisfying supper, particularly if the microwave rays get a little intense and turn clumps of the rice a little rubbery and chewy.
