Machine embroider a table runner

To make

Buy a plain cotton or linen table runner or make your own to the length you require for your table.

Select a decorative stitch on your sewing machine and set the stitch length and width you require. Practise on a scrap of fabric first to make any adjustments to the stitch length and width. Stitch all the way around the table runner close to edge of the hem. Press.

Tip: If the fabric is a bit flimsy, work the stitching over the inner edge of the hem – the double fabric will give extra stability.
