Machine embroider a cushion

Embroidered cushion

To make

Cut two 33cm x 43cm fabric rectangles for back and one 43cm x 43cm square for front.

Enlarge template to 9cm high and trace lightly with a pencil to centre of cushion front. Machine embroider design. Work a zigzag stitch along lines 13cm in from all edges. Press and stitch a 1.5cm hem across a long edge of each back. With right sides together, lay backs on front so hemmed edges overlap. Stitch around outer edge, taking 1.5cm seam allowance. Trim to 1cm and neaten seams. Turn right side out and press. Insert a 40cm x 40cm cushion pad.

Fabric from Laura Ashley. Cushion pad from John Lewis
