Sew a Kindle cover: free sewing pattern
Protect your Kindle while it's out and about with you - sew this padded case. By Kirsten Edwards
If you own a Kindle, chances are that you'll want to keep it safe from bumps and scratches when it's in your bag, or wherever you keep it when you're not actually reading it. So here's a smart padded case to keep it in.
You will need
● 2 pieces of fabric, at least 20in (51cm) by 7in (18cm)● A piece of wadding the same size
● Two buttons
● 18in (45cm) length of narrow ribbon
How to sew your Kindle case
Cut two rectangles of fabric measuring 6.5in (16.5cm) by 19.5in (49.5cm). Cut a piece of wadding the same size.
Place one piece of fabric on top of the other, right sides together, with the wadding on top, lining up edges (pic 1). Machine-sew all three layers together with a 1/4in seam, leaving a 3in gap along one short edge.
Clip corners, insert your thumbs between the two pieces of fabric (pic 2) and turn right side out. Turn in raw edges on gap and sew ¼in from the edge in a contrasting thread.
Fold in one short edge, leaving 3in clear at the top, and pin in place. (pic 3) Sew a 1/4in seam all the way around the edge in contrasting thread. Fold flap down and press.
Sew one button on flap and one on body of cover. Tie the ends of the ribbon together, loop around top button (pic 4) and then around lower button to close the cover.
