Make a driftwood boat garland

Make a driftwood boat garland - Home makes - Craft - allboutyou.com

You will need

• Small pieces of driftwood
• Patterned paper
• Thin card
• Embroidery thread
• Twine

How to make

1. Enlarge the sail and flag templates (below) to desired size and cut out. Glue the patterned paper onto thin card to give it more body. Draw round the templates on the wrong side of the card and cut out.

2. Thread a needle with a long length of embroidery thread. Stitch through the bottom of the sail where marked, leaving a long end, and out at the top, making one long stitch. Continue up through the flag.

3. Leave a small loop at the top and work your way down again through the same holes. Knot the threads behind the sail, then tie the ends securely around the driftwood, hiding the knot at the back. Thread a length of twine through the loops of each boat, secure each one with a knot, and hang up.
