Make a Christmas stocking from old jeans

Christmas stockings made out of jeans - Make a Christmas stocking out of your old jeans - Craft - allaboutyou.com

Use the waistband of a pair of jeans as a cuff and decorate the fabric to add interest.

1 Cut open the legs of a pair of old jeans along the seams.

2 Using a marker pen, draw the shape of your stocking on the reverse side of the denim.

3 Put the right sides together and sew up the sides of the stocking with red and white embroidery thread, leaving the top open.

4 Turn the stocking right side out and check that you like the shape – it needn’t be perfect.

5 Measure the opening of the stocking and cut a section of contrasting fabric to size, leaving enough to hem the edges at the top. Sew onto the denim body to create the cuff, then press.

6 Embroider a name or text onto the cuff.

7 Using some ribbon or twine, make a loop and attach it to the top edge of the cuff to hang it up, then add bells to decorate.

Washable fabric pen, from a selection, Morplan. Red checked fabrics, from a selection, John Lewis. Bells, £1.50 (for 48), Hobbycraft
