Make a paper pattern 35cm long by 4cm wider than a child's wooden coat hanger. Draw around the hanger to shape the top.

Cut out one piece of fabric to this pattern for the back and one piece 5cm longer for the front. Cut front into two pieces 25cm above lower edge.

Stitch two fronts together along these cut edges for 5cm in from each side, taking 2.5cm seam allowances.

Press seam allowances open then press under 1cm to make hems and stitch in place from side to side.

Stitch front to back around outer edge, leaving a 1cm gap in stitching at centre of top.

Turn right side out and press. Insert hanger.
