Trim your stitched piece leaving just 2cm of excess around the entire shape. Cut a piece of calico backing fabric to the exact same shape.
With right sides together, pin and stitch around the entire shape either by hand or using a sewing machine. Leave an opening for turning.
Cut notches in the excess fabric all the way round the shape. This will give the finished shape a smoother look. Stuff until firm and slip stitch closed.
