If your old candlesticks or metallic-finish ornaments are looking a bit battered, it's easy to give them their sparkle back for the festive season, or to give several different designs a unified look by giving them the same finish.

You will need

● Newspaper/dust sheets
● Sandpaper
● Rust-Oleum Surface Primer (on bare wood or metal)
● Rust-Oleum Metallic Spray Paint

Make sure you're in a well-ventilated area. Place the candlestick or ornament to be painted on a piece of newspaper or a dust sheet. Protect the surrounding area with additional dust sheets or newspaper.

Ensure that the surfaces to be painted are free from loose paint, rust, wax, oil and grease. If the items have already been painted, sand them to remove excess paint. Prime bare wood and metal with Rust-Oleum Surface Primer, following the instructions on the tin.

Hold the spray can approximately 30cm from the surface of the object and spray in a steady back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping with each stroke. For best results, keep the can moving, and at the same distance from the surface. Apply several light coats a few minutes apart.
