Make sweet almond soap, with this how-to from Children in Crisis - Home makes - Craft - allaboutyou.com

Support the work of UK charity Children in Crisis, which helps to promote education as well as teaching vocational skills in some of the world's poorest countries. This simple handmade soap recipe forms part of a start-up training programme, helping women in Liberia to set up their own businesses, enabling them to earn enough money to support their families.

You can try your hand at making the simple soap recipe - perfect to give to loved ones as a gorgeous handmade gift.

You will need

• 200g white soap base (this will make enough to make a medium-sized bar of soap)
• Few drops of sweet almond oil
• Few drops of food colouring
• Rectangular soap mould - you can buy soap base, fragrance and soap moulds from major craft shops

How to make

Using a knife, cut the soap base into small chunks, for melting.

Place chunks into a glass jug and microwave in 15-second intervals until it has melted.

Once soap base has melted, add sweet almond oil and food colouring and mix well.

Pour the mixture into the mould and leave to set.

Once the mixture is set, place in the freezer for at least 20 minutes, then remove from mould.
