Christmas gift tags to make
Luggage labels become stylish tags
Ordinary luggage labels can be transformed into stylish gift tags, each becoming an individual collage with vintage braids, tiny silk flowers and cut out lettering
You will need:
● Ivory textured card
● Gold braid
● Fine gold ribbon
● Rubber stamps and ink pad
● Ephemera (for initials and letters)
● Millinery flowers and tiny decorative ephemera
● Gold thread
● Cutting board
● Scalpel
● Metal ruler
● Pencil
● Hole punch
● Scissors
● Multi-purpose glue
● Double-sided tape
Method:
Cut the card into 11x6cm rectangles using a scalpel, metal ruler and cutting board. Cut the corners off one narrow end by marking 2cm along each length and cutting diagonally across the corners. Use the hole punch to make a hole 1cm from the edge and centred across the width at this end. Alternatively you could customise ready-made luggage labels.
Decorate each label differently. Use double-sided tape or glue to secure a braid trim to the lower-edge, stamp an evocative motif using a rubber stamp or glue on letters cut from printed ephemera to spell out a name or a sweet message and perhaps glue a sprig of millinery flowers underneath. Finish each tag by cutting a length of gold thread 23cm long, doubling this over and looping it through the punched hole.
