Trails and organised rambles will lead you past groups of the cheerful, trumpet-like flowers that brush hillsides and banks with their buttery hues this month while the landscape is still mostly bare, the trees yet to unfurl buds. Also known as Lent lilies, daffodils famously moved Dorothy Wordsworth to describe them vividly in a diary entry that inspired her Lakeland poet brother to capture them ‘fluttering and dancing in the breeze' in a poem still treasured today. The Daffodil Way, Gloucestershire

This ten-mile footpath around the villages of Dymock, Kempley, Newent, Bromsberrow and Redmarle are renowned for the wealth of wild daffodils surrounding them. Organised walks will be happening March 15-16 2014 and a trail takes you around the parishes to see the best displays. Call 01531 890453 or click here.
