Want to soak up the sun for the last few weeks of summer? There are a few really nice outdoor options around London this August. So, whether you're a tourist or a local, give them a try sun willing.
Watch a film on the roof of John Lewis
This summer John Lewis opened a rooftop garden and from now until August 30, Picturehouse Cinemas presents weekend film screenings up there. Lots of films to choose from, including Casablanca, Breakfast at Tiffanys and The Big Lebowski, screenings start at dusk and theres a fully licensed bar. Pack a picnic and an umbrella, just in case! and head for the roof.

Sit on The Lawn at Tower Bridge
For one of the ultimate London views, take a trip to The Lawn at The Tower Hotel. This outdoor terrace with bar and street food vans used to be a car park (!), until some clever soul figured the riverside location could be put to much better use. Soak up the sun on a deck chair or try your hand at some of their garden games, all at the edge of the mighty Tower Bridge. Its a Londoners paradise
Get loved up on the Southbank
Londons Southbank on the river Thames is always a great place to hang out, with open air terrace bars and restaurants, food stalls, book sellers, street entertainers and more. Keep an eye out from now until the end of August for the Festival of Love events taking place, including performances, poetry, talks, pop-ups, installations and artworks, all created to celebrate seven different types of love. And to mark the year in which same sex marriage became legal, the Big Wedding Weekend takes place on Aug 30 and 31, where couples gay or straight, young or old are invited to marry or renew their vows on the stage of the Royal Festival Hall. And everyone is welcome to attend.
