Who might win next month
The Bafta nominations were revealed this moninrg. And the titles in the running for best film are...
Critically acclaimed and on general release from this Friday, this is based on the biography of Solomon Northup, a free man, who was kidnapped and sold into slavery in Washington 1841, and worked on plantations for 12 years before regaining his freedom. Telling the story of a talented British con man working for a maverick FBI man. Click here to watch the 'American Hustle' trailer
I thought this was a gripping tale of Somalian piracy, simply told with no extraneous drama, and eliciting some sympathy for the situation of those who turn to piracy, and obviously quite a lot more for Captai Phillips, played by Tom Hanks, and the crew. Judi Dench and Steve Coogan star in this story of a woman searching for the child she was forced to give up, assisted by a political journalist. Click here to watch the 'Philomena' trailer.
Another one I've seen, and I was soooo tense throughout, because of the characters' 'jeopardy' as they say in film certification language. And those characters are played by George Clooney and Sandra Bullock. Click here to watch a trailer for 'Gravity'
